Yahoo Messenger 9

31 10 2007
Yahoo launched Messenger 9 Beta recently . And just at the right time too! I had just uninstalled Messenger 8 for good, and moved to Pidgin, and if it weren’t for the voice chat and and options i would have kept to Pidgin. But when i found out about the new features of Yahoo Messenger 9 i decided to give it a try.

These new features are:

  • The most important one is that you can view youtube and yahoo videos and also flicker images and online map links inside the messenger window by copy-pasting the link.
  • You can forward text messages and voice calls to a mobile phone
  • Redesigned GUI with a few themes
  • New emoticons… like :-bd, witch can appear in the status! (or at least so it is said, ‘cuz it didn’t work when i tried it)
  • A open/close display images at top-right
  • and many others.. you will discover for yourself

At this moment i have both Messenger 9 Beta and Pidgin installed… I really can’t give up on one of them.. i use them both!

My Browsers

27 08 2007
I have many browsers installed as you can see from the screenshot at the left of this. I think the only important browser that is missing from this list is Netscape Navigator.. i mean for Windows, on my linux drive i also have installed the KDE default browser Konqueror.
From all of these browsers that i have used, and currently use, the most and most used is Internet Explorer from the 5.01 version to 6.0. That’s the reality.. but and there is a big but here.. i used that the most because Firefox didn’t existed at that time, or i haven’t had heard of it. Anyway from the moment i first discovered Firefox i never turned back to IE. I’m a big Firefox fan mainly for it’s add-ons, small size, ease of use, and (not the case anymore) speed.. Unfortunately as I was saying i’m a bit dissapointed of my current firefox 2.0.0.6 with nearly 50 plugins and iSafari theme ‘cuz it became very very slow..
I await anxiously for the new Firefox 3 (Gran Paradiso). Till then when i need speed i’ll have to keep switching to Opera, Maxthon or IE.
